One Nation Under God

One Nation Under God. (submitted image)

by Mark Doland – Park Church of Christ

The past recent weeks we have looked at several things that describe the Creator of all that is. As we turn the corner in our quest for answers into the questions that have for many years confounded those who seek to destroy the character and nature of God, we must understand it is He who has withstood the test of time.

When we understand the power of God, we have a tendency to dress Him up as Someone whom we cannot get close to. This is a false notion that we as humans perceive, for the Bible tells us that God is near to us. God is close. “for in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). “He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:27). It is unfathomable that we have a Father that is so powerful, yet so close and near us. What a blessing for us to have the Creator of all that is be with us in our needs and supply them for us.

With the perception that we sometimes have about God when we are troubled and torn, wondering where God is in all of this, He is there, waiting to help. So often times I counsel folks that blame God for not being there for them in their needs. We look into God’s Word and see that He was there for them all along, they just didn’t realize it. When we have a walk in the Christian faith that is less than fulfilled, our relationships are strained, including our relationship with Him. So we have to ask ourselves an honest question. If I am not in a proper relationship with God, who moved? Him or me?
