One Dies In Multi-Vehicle Accident

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Emergency crews were dispatched, just after 7pm, to the 175 mile marker, approximately 3 miles west of Oskaloosa, on Highway 92 Saturday evening.

According to a report by the Iowa State Patrol, a 2006 Toyota Highlander, driven by Solomon Habtesion, 39, was east bound on Highway 92 when it became disabled, stopping in the east bound lane. The occupants of the Highlander exited the vehicle.

A 1996 Chevrolet S10, driven by Georgie Crews, 62, was traveling east bound and struck the rear of the Highlander, pushing it into a third vehicle, a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Kenneth Sharp, 66, of Creston, Iowa.

Habtesion and another victim, Shewit Gerengus, 30, were both transported by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist.

Crews died of his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
