New SHIIP Counselors Offer Medicare Information at Mahaska Health Partnership
MAHASKA COUNTY – If you have questions about Medicare, Mahaska Health Partnership has Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselors available to assist you.
SHIIP provides free informational materials as well as one-to-one assistance with questions and problems related to Medicare benefits, Medicare supplement insurance, Medicare insurance claims and other related issues.
According to MHP Patient Accounts Director Joyce Vonk, SHIIP does not recommend insurance companies, plans or agents. “SHIIP volunteers answer questions and provide impartial information to help Iowans on Medicare make well-informed decisions,” Vonk said.
MHP Volunteers Kathy Suchting and JoAnn Schefers recently completed the six-day extensive SHIIP training program conducted by the State of Iowa Insurance Division. They are now available Wednesdays from 9 am to 5 pm by appointment on the second floor of Mahaska Health West on the MHP campus in Oskaloosa. To make an appointment with a SHIIP counselor, please call 641-672-3113.
