New 48 Unit Apartment Complex In The Works
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Planning and Zoning Commission got its first look at a proposed apartment complex that would be located at 1302 and 1320 High Avenue West in Oskaloosa.
The conversation about the proposed 48 unit apartment complex began at the end of 2013 by Overland Property. The project could carry an 8.5 million dollar price tag, and would be built at the intersection of High Avenue West and South L Street. Currently, an unoccupied nursing home sits on the location.
The Enterprise Zone tax credit was one option on the table to help make the development affordable for the developer, which in turn helps the city fill its much needed housing capacity.
During the meeting on Tuesday night, the Planning and Zoning Commission heard the city staff recommendations on the project. In turn, the commission asked questions of the developer and the city staff.
Ultimately, the commission approved the site plans, with some stipulations required to meet city code and staff recommendations. The Oskaloosa City Council will now take up the issue in upcoming meetings.
