NAIA Announces Second MRPI Rankings

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s soccer team made a huge jump, while the women’s soccer squad also improved as the NAIA’s second Modified Ratings Percentage Indexes were released Wednesday.
The men (9-5-1, 5-4 Heart) are ranked 53rd out of 193 teams with a mark of .450183, improving 39 spots from last month’s first rating. The program is seventh among Heart of America Athletic Conference institutions; the six in front of the Statesmen are all ranked in the top 25.
The top five in the MRPI rating is William Carey (Miss.), Oklahoma Wesleyan, Missouri Valley, Baker, and Corban (Ore.).
The women (8-5-1, 4-4-1 Heart) are 124th out of 194 teams at .323772, advancing 15 slots from September. The nation’s top five is Spring Arbor (Mich.), Northwestern Ohio, Martin Methodist (Tenn.), William Carey, and Columbia (Mo.). Central Methodist leads all Heart schools at #10.
The final MRPI will be released on November 13 and will be one of several tools used to determine the at-large programs for NAIA Nationals.
Next Up: The teams continue Heart action Saturday by hosting Central Methodist. The women play at 5 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.
