Miller Places in Top 150 in First Nationals Trip
Tallahassee, Fla.–Andrew Miller (Jr., Le Claire, Iowa, Exercise Science) took on the best in the nation on Friday as he competed in the 70th Annual NAIA Men’s Cross Country National Championship.
Overall, the junior was 146th out of 326 competitors in the 8K race in a time of 26:14.7 in his first experience at nationals.
Indiana Wesleyan won the team title on the Apalachee Regional Park course with 117 points, while second-place The Master’s (Calif.) was close behind with 128 points.
Jack Anderson of The Master’s took the individual national championship with a time of 24:15.4.
Miller came out strong, positioning himself in 73rd after 1,170 meters (3:27.0), but unfortunately could not keep up his pace.
“Andrew put himself in good position early and had nothing to lose today,” Graduate Assistant Coach Caleb Silver said. “He moved up well in the last kilometer and fought hard to the end, finishing as the seventh-best runner in the conference after placing 13th at the league championship two weeks ago. He checked off his first national championship, and we are excited to be back next fall.”
