OSKALOOSA – Mahaska Health Partnership New Directions is pleased to welcome Psychiatrist Patricia Kinne, MD.

“Dr. Kinne brings a wide variety of expertise from child to geriatric care,” MHP Director of New Directions Stephanie Faulkes shared. “Her willingness to consider new and different approaches to patient treatment and collaborate within a team setting enhances the behavioral health services we are able to offer.”

Dr. Kinne received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She brings over 30 years of experience, seven as a medical doctor, in various aspects of the behavioral health field. Most recently, Dr. Kinne practiced in community mental health centers and psychiatric units in Kentucky and Illinois.

As a psychiatrist, Dr. Kinne can treat children, adolescents and adults for a wide variety of psychiatric disorders. When asked why she chose this field of medicine, Dr. Kinne said, “I wanted to change the way mental health is treated. I have a strong interest in research and education and I hope to continue that work here.

“New Directions is a very progressive clinic that is open to new ideas and therapies. There are a lot of exciting things happening in MHP’s future and I am excited to part of it.”

MHP New Directions is an outpatient behavioral health clinic that offers behavioral health and substance use counseling. In addition to Dr. Kinne, the clinic employs fulltime Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Stef Yearian, ARNP, as well as social workers and counselors specializing in mental health and substance use treatment. “Our providers view counseling and treatment as a process where our clients seek to work through interpersonal, emotional and spiritual difficulties,” Faulkes said.

“With the addition of Dr. Kinne, we are able to meet our clients’ desire to receive services for medication management and therapy from one group of providers. Through this partnership, it allows clients to be involved in a more holistic approach to care.”
