Madueno Claims Another POW Award

Oskaloosa–Abel Madueno (Jr., San Bernardino, Calif., Business Management) produced yet another dominant outing on the hill, and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week Monday.

Madueno earned his second career award (both this year) after helping the Statesmen to a 4-1 victory against Graceland last Saturday.

The junior held the Yellowjackets to just the one run on six scattered hits in a complete-game win. He struck out 10 and offered up just two walks.

For the year, Madueno is 8-2 with a 2.42 Earned Run Average. Over 70 2/3 innings this spring, he has recorded six complete games, one shutout, and one save, while striking out 87 batters (31 walks). Opponents are hitting just .231 against him.

The award is the second for WPU this year.
