Obituary:
Linda Sue Neely was born on April 13, 1938 in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Glenn Neely and Wilma Ellen (Matthews) Neely.
She graduated from East High School in Des Moines with the class of 1958. In 1968, Linda was united in marriage to Robert Lee Stickel in Omaha, Nebraska. She had her Real Estate and Brokers Licenses and did some work in real estate. Linda was a member of the Eastern Star.
Linda took great pride in serving her community as mayor of Pleasantville, and her ground breaking work for the Iowa state historical building in 1965 that led to the preservation of several artifacts from the Coal Port Kiln in Marion County. She also was an ambassador for the state of Iowa sesquicentennial torch run.
Linda passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 12 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Lee Stickel.
Survivors include her children, Brian (Cindi) Stickel of Knoxville, Cindy Stickel of Fort Dodge, Jove (Teresa) Stickel of Higginsville, Missouri; grandchildren, Jessica and Robert Stickel of Knoxville, Joe (Ellen Bechtel) Freemyer of Lake Wood, Colorado, Cody (Danielle) Freemyer of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Lindsey Freemyer Fort Dodge, Jennifer Burks of Boise, Idaho, Heather (Ryan) Locklar of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Colby, Kayleigh and Evelyn; brothers, Paul (Susan) Neely of Huntsville, Alabama and Keith (Alice) Neely of San Antonio, Texas.
