Let’s Tackle Preparedness

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Emergencies and disasters can strike anywhere and at any time. That is the purpose behind a month long campaign to help inform others to be prepared.
Mahaska County Emergency Manager Jamey Robinson along with Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Iowa Emergency Management Association and Safeguard Iowa worked with Oskaloosa native and NFL player Tyler Sash to develop information to help inform Iowans how to be prepared in time of emergencies.
On Friday, representatives from the various groups involved gathered in Governor Branstad’s office while he signed a declaration proclaiming September as Preparedness Month.
Preparedness Month was created in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, in order to educate the public of how to prepare for emergencies.
