Late Night Shoppers Snap Up Deals
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Black Friday starts earlier every year and, for Oskaloosa shoppers, this year was no different.
Patrons of local stores started pouring out of local retailers just after midnight with TV sets, laptop computers, video game gear, along with kitchen gadgets to satisfy the most finicky of chef’s.
Locals residents Thomas and Delana McDaniels said, as they left the local Wal-Mart store with their new TV, that they had gotten in line around 9 pm. I asked the couple if the wait was worth it in the end, with both replying “No”.
But once inside Oskaloosa’s largest retail store, things were running along smoothly. Staff had set up roped lines to direct traffic into the checkout lanes and customers were surprised at the speed they were able to get in and out of the store.
According to staff, no fights or heated arguments had broken out. By 1:30 a.m. the store was back to near normal operation and it was definitely going to be time for some cleaning and restocking.
Across the street at Game Stop there was standing room only, as people were shoulder to shoulder grabbing the latest deals in video games and accessories.
