John Aduddell

Obituary:
John Alan Aduddell was born January 15, 1926 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa the son of Edward and Theodosia (Wahl) Aduddell.
He was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines Tech. Following graduation he worked at a grocery store and later drove a truck for a few years. He then served in the United States Army from November of 1951 to November of 1953. John eventually went to work for Allied Insurance in Des Moines. On June 28, 1974 he was united in marriage to June Que. The couple lived in Des Moines and Texas for a few years before moving to Pleasantville in 1978. John retired from IMT Insurance in 1987.
John was very active in the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Clown Unit. He loved putting smiles on the faces of sick children and supporting the world’s greatest philanthropy. He also liked to parade with the Shrine and was known as the clown with the polka-dotted Volkswagen. In their retirement years, John and June also traveled all over the United States. John was also a talented woodworker; he made beautiful furniture, birdhouses, toys and quilt racks for family and friends. He was active in the Pleasantville American Legion Post No. 108, in Pleasantville, especially assisting with military funeral honors.
John passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Pleasant Care Living Center at the age of 85 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Charles and two sisters, Joyce Varner Aduddell and Margaret Lindquist.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, June; children, Jo Ellen Aduddell and Susan (Louie) Plude of Des Moines, Steve Lehman of Branson, Missouri, Robert (Tammi) Lehman of Nevada; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Larry) Sowder of Coral Gables of Florida; brother, Edward (Nancy) Aduddell of Gravois Mills, Missouri and many other family members and friends.
