Jean Claims POW Honor is First Week at WPU
Oskaloosa–Tim Jean (So., Libertyville, Ill., Public Accounting) was nearly unstoppable last week in his Statesmen debut and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week Monday.
Jean won his first career laurel in helping William Penn to a 3-1 season-opening weekend against Kansas Wesleyan.
In his first game in the navy and gold on Saturday, the first baseman went 2-for-2 with one RBI, one run scored, and a pair of walks. He then posted three hits in five at-bats with one RBI and a run scored in Saturday’s second bout.
One day later, Jean continued his plate dominance with a perfect 3-for-3 showing (one run scored) in the opener before going 2-for-3 with a home run. In the nightcap, he scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Overall for the opening weekend, Jean finished 10-for-13 (.769) with five doubles and a home run. He scored five times and batted in four runs as well, while walking on three occasions and being hit by pitch once. His on-base clip was .824 and his slugging mark was 1.385, both astounding marks.
The award is the first for WPU this year.
