Indians Down Rockets 80-56 To Retain Eddybalooska Trophy

Oskaloosa Indians

by Doug DeKock

The Oskaloosa Indian boys’ basketball team traveled down to Eddyville Saturday night after a heartbreaking loss on Friday night against Norwalk. The Rockets were trying to bounce back from a four overtime victory over Centerville on Friday night. In the end, Oskaloosa was just too much for Eddyville in the
80-56 win. The Indians started out a little sloppy and Eddyville played hard in keeping the game close 21-14 after one quarter. Jarad Kruse was almost unstoppable for the Indians from the start, as he would score a game high of
33 points. Eddyville battled the talented and taller Indians trailing by 12 at the half 39-27. The third quarter would be a much different story as Oskaloosa’s depth would start to wear the Rockets out. Jack Moore, Xavier Foster and Cole Henry would all heat up in addition to Kruse, as the Indians started to run away with the game, pulling out to a 62-34 lead after three quarters. Eddyville continued to play hard in spite of being worn out from the night before in the fourth quarter before losing 80-56.

The Indians were led by Kruse who topped the 30 point mark for the first time this year, finishing with 33 points. Moore was next in line with 14 points, while the freshman, Foster, would have a big night with 11 points and nine blocks. Henry added eight points while Rian Yates chipped in five points.
Eddyville was led in scoring by Trey Moore with 16 points. Peyton Walker and Jaden Scott each scored nine, KJ McCrea added seven points for the Rockets.

Oskaloosa returns to Little Hawkeye action Tuesday night as they host the highly ranked Little Dutch from Pella at 7:30pm.
