Hattie Shaw

Oskaloosa. Hattie H. Shaw, 82, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born May 1, 1928 at Oskaloosa, the daughter of Amos J. and Maude Bell Chambers. On July 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to (Emery) Keith Shaw at Davenport, and Keith died April 12, 1987. Early in her adult life, Hattie worked at Mahaska Bottling, then Ideal Manufacturing, and lastly for Rolscreen Company of Pella, and retired in 1987. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and was always ready to go gambling at Tama. She delighted in her grandchildren.

Her family includes her son: Dale Shaw of Oskaloosa; three daughters and their husbands: Donna and Irvin Slagter and Gloria and Alvin Renaud, all of Oskaloosa; and Barbara and Fred Shimon of North Liberty; two grandchildren: Mark (Tami) Van Wyk and Tami Bringman (Brian Bittner); and three great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Ellen Miller, Alice Spears, and Anna Eddy; and four brothers: Frederick, Tom, Frank, and Dennis Chambers.

Funeral services for Hattie Shaw will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Friday after 12 noon, and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Friday from 5 – 6 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
