Half Dozen Earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete Recognition
Oskaloosa–Six members of the Statesmen women’s lacrosse team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2023 NAIA Scholar-Athletes Tuesday.
Tara Dryml (Sr., Independence, Iowa, Elementary Education) leads the group with a 4.00 Grade Point Average.
Victoria Negron (Jr., Miami, Fla., Exercise Science) and Kenzington Winget (So., West Jordan, Utah, Sports Management) are next at 3.80 GPAs, while Annie Gruber (Jr., Eagan, Min., Psychology) collected the honor at 3.74.
Bailee Royal (Sr., Hallsville, Texas, Sports Management), at 3.67, and Paola Cruz (Sr., Ocala, Fla., Biology), at 3.65, also eclipsed the mark.
A total of 159 women’s lacrosse players from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
