Gosch, Van Veldhuizen Earn Scholar-Athlete Accolades

Oskaloosa–Cooper Gosch (Jr., Reeds Springs, Okla., Education) and Nate Van Veldhuizen (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering) were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes Friday.
The honor is the first for both individuals. Van Veldhuizen leads the duo with a 3.81 Grade Point Average, while Gosch owns a 3.63 GPA. A total of 379 football players from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
