Glen Johnson

November 30, 1925 – June 25, 2011

Glen passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Private family graveside memorial services will be held at Union Mills Cemetery with Pastor Randy DeYarman officiating.

Glen Myron Johnson was born November 30, 1925 to Frank and Ella Thompson Johnson in Eddyville, Iowa. He was a 1944 graduate of Eddyville High School. Glen joined the United States Navy, he was stationed on the USS Freestone in the Pacific Ocean and reached the rank of Signalman Second Class. After his discharge in 1946, Glen went to work for the Rock Island Railroad. He traveled all over the Midwest building and repairing bridges. He retired in 1985. During retirement, Glen enjoyed wood crafting, fishing and even the occasional gambling trip.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Johnson of Oskaloosa; a niece, Ruth and Tom Stauffer of Muscatine, Iowa and many other nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Guy Johnson and two: Madge Smith and June Long.

Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
