Geneva Mae Kaufman, age 85, of Fremont passed away, Friday, June 10, 2011 at her home in Fremont. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon Thursday, June 16, with the family present from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, at 10:00 AM at the Fremont Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. Interment will follow at Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie, Iowa. Geneva Kaufman, was born June 22, 1925, in Ollie, Iowa, the daughter of Sherman and Bessie Jacobs Van Orsdall. She was united in marriage to Merle Paxton on September 15, 1941; they later divorced. She then married Kenneth Coble on May 17, 1963; he died on September 24, 1968. On April 8, 1973, she was united in marriage to Don Kaufman in Fremont; he died February 18, 1998. Geneva was a full time homemaker and mother to her nine children. She enjoyed family gatherings, fish fries, baking, making “special” birthday suppers for her children to include their favorites, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, crocheting, country music, especially attending the Country Music Shows at Lake Rathbun when she was able, being in contact daily with her children, and was a “forced” Iowa Hawkeye fan. Geneva is survived by her children; Shirley Paxton of Albia, Terry (Nancy) Paxton of Oskaloosa, Richard Paxton of Oskaloosa, Dennis, Debra, and Danny Paxton all of Fremont, seven grandchildren: Penny (Brian) Lingle, Bridgette (Christian) Shilling, Jeff, Jayme, Jennifer, and Ron Paxton, Lucinda (Norman) Blad; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sons; Larry, David and Robert Paxton.
