Oskaloosa–Three members of the Statesmen softball team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes recently.

Savannah Fleming (Sr., Gooding, Idaho, Exercise Science) headlined the trio with a 3.69 Grade Point Average entering the spring, while Sonia Reddy (Jr., Tracy, Calif., Exercise Science) owned a 3.55 GPA and Katie Springer (Sr., Riverside, Iowa, Psychology and Human Services) recorded a 3.54 mark.

The laurel is the first for Fleming and Reddy and the second for Springer. A total of 510 softball players from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
