Oskaloosa took on rival Pella Friday night at the Lacey Recreation Complex Stadium.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The battle of 163 took place at the Lacey Recreation Complex Stadium on Friday night as Oskaloosa hosted Pella with the District 8 title on the line.

The first five minutes of the game proved to be a mountain too high to overcome for the Indians as the  Dutch capitalized on some early turnovers and a blocked punt to take a 21-0 lead over the Indians.

Oskaloosa Head Football Coach Mike Sterner stated that when you are playing a good football team, “you can’t make mistakes. Really, we were a plethora of mistakes, and a good football team took advantage of that.”

Sterner said that any good football team will keep the momentum, “and they did that. It wasn’t until late in the football game that our kids started to play football again.”

“I look forward to a chance to see what our kids can do to improve and we’ll go from there,” Sterner said.

Looking towards improving and learning from the game, Sterner added, ” We will focus on the most important game in our schedule, which is the next one.”

Oskaloosa dropped the home game against proverbial rival Pella, 35-7. Oskaloosa will face Knoxville Friday night at Knoxville.
