E. Raymond Mick

E. Raymond Mick, 95, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at
Griffin Nursing Center.
The second child of Fred Lyman Mick and Sylvia (Olson) Mick of Bussey, Iowa,
Raymond was born on his parent’s homestead near Scobey, Montana on October 14, 1915. He graduated from Bussey High School in 1932. He attended Central College for two years and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in 1936 and a JD law degree in June 1938. He practiced law for 66 years beginning in Albia and then Knoxville, retiring on his 90th birthday. Raymond married Mary Jane Barnhill of Albia, Iowa on May 29, 1941.
During World War II, Raymond served as Lieutenant (j.g.) in the U.S. Coast Guard from
1942-1945.
Preceding Raymond in death were his parents, his wife of 64 years, Mary, his brother,
Wayne Mick and two infant brothers. He is survived by two brothers, Bernard Mick of
Waverly, Iowa and Harold Mick (Gloria) of Albia, Iowa and by three sons, Jim Mick
(Birgitta) of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, Tom Mick (Graciela) of Cincinnati,
Ohio and Bill Mick (Elaine) of Topeka, Kansas. He will also be missed by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
