Oskaloosa, Iowa – Disposing of that old computer or TV set in a way that won’t hurt the environment is the purpose of MCG’s 7th Annual E-Cycling day.

This past Saturday, at least two full tractor-trailers were filled with e-waste, as MCG, Midwest Sanitation & Recycling, and Clow all worked together from 8:00 am until noon in the MCG south parking lot.

Items that were being collected included computer monitors, video game systems, cell phones, printers, personal computers, laptops, stereos, televisions, keyboards, VCR’s and DVD players, and if you were unfortunate enough, a dead Blue-Ray player could be disposed of as well.

In the past six years, over 10,000 items have been collected, totaling over 265,000 lbs of electronics that have been recycled versus dumped in landfills.

The service was free, but donations were accepted and passed along to local non-profit’s like Trees Forever.

Trees forever was once again on hand, handing out tree saplings to those who wanted one.
