Domestic Assault Call Has Police Investigating A Death In Knoxville

At approximately 8:53 p.m. on December 21, 2018, the Knoxville Police Department was called to the 100 block S. 2nd Street for the report of a domestic assault.  Officers arrived and found a 46-year-old man bleeding from a possible stab wound.  Officers began treating the man and called for paramedics to enter.  The man was transported to the Knoxville Hospital where the man was pronounced dead. 

The name of the victim is being held pending notification of the next of kin. 

 The Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Fire & Rescue Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Marion County Attorney’s Office, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are assisting with this investigation. 

***Update***

The Knoxville Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating the apparent stabbing death of Monte C. Brown, a 46-year-old Knoxville resident.  The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Friday in an apartment located in the 100 block S. 2nd Street.  The victim was transported from the scene to the Knoxville Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The victim was then transferred to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.  The results of that autopsy are pending. 

A person of interest has been identified and interviewed.  However no arrest has been made nor any charges filed.  The matter is still under investigation.
