Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa High School students from the Professionalism Class, taught by Mr. Kargol, used the art world to help gain experience in a professional environment.

“It’s for professional experience to put on our applications and to put on our college portfolios,” said OHS student Troy Else, who will use the experience gained from putting on an art show.

The class settled on promoting and running a local art show as a way to build their professional experience. The class then contacted teachers, “asking for artwork” and with that, there was a wide selection of art from various ages, ranging from elementary to high school, on display at Penn Central Mall.

Else isn’t an “artsy person” but instead likes to focus on the business side of an art show. “I like to promote and help the business side.” Else Would be more at home as the art gallery owner.

The group hopes to draw upwards of 200 visitors a night during their show.

The show will be open every Friday and Saturday though February 15th from 4 to 8 pm on Fridays and 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays.
