Central College

PELLA, Iowa —The Central College men’s tennis squad has been named a Division III all-academic team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Meanwhile Bryn Boswell (junior, Pella), Dan Bowser (May grad, Fort Dodge), Kyle Freischlag (sophomore, Downers Grove, Ill., Downers Grove South HS), John Seier (sophomore, Lincoln, Neb., Waverly HS) and Ryan Shuey (sophomore, Corning) received individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Teams must achieve a 3.2 or higher grade point average (4.0 scale) to be eligible for the award. To qualify for the individual honor, student-athletes must receive a varsity letter, have attended the institution at least two semesters and achieve a 3.5 or better GPA.

Bowser, Shuey and Boswell were earlier named to the spring academic all-Iowa Conference squad, based on cumulative GPAs. Boswell posted a 3.95 mark in biology, Bowser compiled a 3.55 mark in mathematics and economics and Shuey had a 3.67 GPA in biochemistry.

The Dutch open their non-traditional fall season at the Ashford Invitational Sept. 16 in Waterloo.
