Celebrate Fremont

Fremont, Iowa – A committee of people have worked all year long to plan for three days of celebrating their hometown. The hope for the all the work is to continue building a sense of community and pride within Fremont and it’s surrounding area.

Deb Veach and Jan Bayliss are just two of a large committee of individuals that worked during the past year to plan and implement ‘Celebrate Fremont’.

The celebration is back for it’s second year, after being absent from the community for several years. Veach and Bayliss said that there were several “hurdles” to overcome for this years celebration.

The Iowa and Iowa State game was a center part of the celebration, as the TYR Trailer was on hand to broadcast the game live in the park.

Festivities also included a parade that had approximately 55 entries, a corn-hole tournament and a live band during the afternoon on Saturday.

Sunday, there was a community church service. The service was new for this year.

It’s taken the core group of volunteers to help make the weekend celebration possible, and Bayliss says that the celebration will definately take place the second weekend in September next year.

Bayliss says that the entire weekend was made possible by generous donations by businesses and individuals within the community.
