Bostelman Takes Third as the Statesmen Compete at the Doane Open
Crete, Neb.– The William Penn women’s wrestling team competed in the Doane Conner/Oppenheim Open Saturday, as eight Statesmen picked up victories in the tournament.
Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Exercise Science) led the way for the Statesmen taking third place in the 131 pound division. In her route to the bronze Bostelman picked up five technical falls along with a pin fall as she finished 6-1.
Two Statesmen finished with three wins, 131-pounder Bronwyn Brenneman (Sr., Parnell, Iowa, Biology) and 145-pounder Maeley Elsbury (So., Chelsea, Iowa, Undecided) both claimed one pin fall, technical fall, and decision as they went 3-2.
A trio of Statesmen split the weekend going 2-2, Bella Harris (So., Charleston, Tenn., Sociology) had two pin falls, both in under a minute at 160-pounds. While 160-pounder Joey Ives (Fr., Bellevue, Wash., Undecided) and 207-pounder Phoebe Burt (Sr., Coralville, Iowa, Sociology and Psychology and Human Services) had their hands raised via pin fall and decision.
Naida Abdijanovic (Sr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology) also added a win with a 0:53 pin at 145 pounds, while Alexa Wolf (So., Rogers, Ark., Kinesiology) grabbed hers in a 3-0 decision at 160 pounds.
