Bohney Enters Sophomore Year with High-Level Experience
Oskaloosa–William Penn men’s lacrosse player Kenny Bohney (So., Moorhead, Minn., Exercise Science) will enter his sophomore campaign with international experience after representing his home country this past summer.
Bohney accepted an invitation to play for Team USA’s U21 indoor team at the 2023 World Junior Lacrosse Championship. The event, which was held from August 7-12 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, featured Canada, Poland, Australia, Israel, Scotland, and the United States.
Bohney was the only NAIA player on Team USA’s squad which featured individuals from numerous premier lacrosse programs such as Notre Dame, Virginia, Salisbury, Tufts, Middlebury, and Tampa.
The American team dominated the competition, finishing with a 4-0 record to win the gold medal. Team USA, which outscored its opposition 67-31, wrapped up play with a 10-7 victory over Team Canada in the Gold Medal game.
Playing as a transitional defender, Bohney recorded one assist and won the lone faceoff in which he participated.
As a freshman during the 2023 collegiate campaign, Bohney tallied 30 points (20 goals and 10 assists) in 19 games for William Penn. He helped WPU to a 13-6 record, including a Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season title at 5-0.
