Black Stepping Down as Women’s Wrestling Coach
Oskaloosa–William Penn Athletics Director Nik Rule has announced Tucker Black is stepping down as Head Women’s Wrestling Coach.
Hired as the program’s first coach back in 2019, Black’s final day at WPU will be April 14.
“We are grateful for Coach Black’s commitment to the University and helping us establish the women’s wrestling program,” Rule said. “He is a great person and a solid leader, and he will always be a part of our Statesmen family. We have a great deal of appreciation for how he has handled his departure, and respect his desire to spend more time with family and explore business opportunities outside of college athletics.”
In three seasons at the helm, he guided two individuals to Heart of America Athletic Conference titles, while most recently this year, four of his grapplers qualified for the NAIA National Championship. The Statesmen won 12 dual meets in Black’s coaching career.
“I am proud of the growth the women’s wrestling team has made during my tenure,” Black said. “I leave behind a team with strong leadership and plenty of youth. It will be fun to watch this team’s future success and I hope to assist that in any way possible.”
William Penn began a national search last week for a new head coach.
