Beaver, Nwachukwu Collect Player of the Month Honors

Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the February Player of the Month laurels.

Junior men’s track and field athlete D’Artagnon Beaver (Rockford, Ill., Human Services) earned the Male award, while junior women’s wrestler Adaugo Nwachukwu (Jr., San Jose, Calif., Exercise Science) claimed the Female honor. The laurel is the second for Beaver, while Nwachukwu is a first-time winner.

The January POM as well, Beaver continued his dominance, breaking school records in the one-mile run (4:19.74), 3,000-meter run (8:34.54), and 5,000-meter run (15:09.02). He also helped the 4×800-meter relay team to both a school record (7:49.75) and a qualification to NAIA Nationals. The junior won three Heart of America Athletic Conference titles (one mile, 3,000, and 4×800) as part of a month where he tallied four race victories.

Nwachukwu rolled to an 8-0 record during February, including posting seven technical falls. The junior won the Heart Championship crown with a trio of technical falls, including defeating the then-#2 ranked wrestler in the NAIA 10-0 in the finals.
