Back-to-Back Shutouts Lead Cavazos to Award

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Tadeo Cavazos (Sr., Baytown, Texas, Lee HS) is making his senior year a memorable one as his efforts last week earned him Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the league office Monday.

Cavazos helped Penn (6-6-2, 2-4-1 MCC) to a 1-0 win over Midland (Neb.) Wednesday and a 0-0 tie versus Waldorf in league action Saturday.

The senior, who is now a three-time winner of the award (twice in 2008), posted six saves Wednesday and then stopped ten shots Saturday for his 16th and 17th career shutouts. He faced a total of 35 shots last week.

For the year, Cavazos is 4-3-2 with a 1.85 Goals Against Average and three shutouts. He has recorded 62 saves and allowed just 18 goals in 875 minutes.

It is the team’s second honor of the 2010 campaign.
