A Reminder From The Oskaloosa Fire Department

As the warm weather months bring out lawn mowers, leaf blowers, motorcycles, and bicycles, please be aware of where you are blowing your leaves and grass clippings.
Oskaloosa Municipal Code 8.08.010 (1) reads as follows;

Causing or suffering any refuse, garbage, noxious substances, hazardous wastes, junk or salvage materials to be collected or to remain in any place to the prejudice of others. Causing or suffering any refuse, garbage, noxious substances, or hazardous wastes, junk, salvage material or other offensive or disagreeable substances to be thrown, left, or deposited in or upon any street, avenue, alley, sidewalk, park, public square, public enclosure, lot, vacant or occupied, or upon any pond or pool of water.

If grass clippings or yard waste is observed being discharged into the street, a citation will be issued to the homeowner and a fine levied.
