Campers Explore the World of Applied Technology

(Oskaloosa, Iowa) – Children enrolled in the William Penn University Applied Technology Day Camp had a chance to explore a future career in the field with a fun-filled week full of hands-on activities such as robotics, making code, computer programming, virtual reality, digital science, digital media, industrial technology, and 3D printing.

Campers were able to will learn the different parts of a computer and how to build one, program a robotic arm to move, and turn themselves into a virtual character through 3D scanning to 3D print an action figure of themselves. Students were able able to move about the camp and test out different skills so none were left stationary in front of a computer all week.

This year over 40 campers attended the week long day camp from June 11–15 at the Musco Technology Center. As their very last activity, they were able to present their projects and knowledge to parents during pick up time on Friday, June 15

Outside of just being a fun summer camp for students, the activities are also meant to stimulate the imagination in case a child may wish to seek a future in applied technology. Applied technology includes fields such as engineering, computer science, information technology, and industrial technology, as well as many other career paths.
