Oskaloosa–William Penn University women’s golf coach Nik Rule has announced the signing of Natalie Booton to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the women’s golf program.
Natalie, the daughter of Kirby and Angie Booton, is a native of Mount Pleasant and currently attends Mount Pleasant HS where she will graduate this spring.
A Second-Team All-State performer as a junior, Booton finished 13th at the Class 3A state tournament. A three-time letterwinner (ten overall in four sports), she has earned first-team all-conference recognition all three seasons. She has won the conference tournament crown the past two years.
Booton is also a two-time all-district performer, winning the district meet as a sophomore. She was medalist in eight of nine meets last year and still has her senior year to play.
A strong student as well, Booton was an academic all-conference honoree for her junior campaign.
“Natalie is a player who has had a lot of success at the high school level and knows what it takes to win on the golf course,” Rule said. “She is also a four-sport athlete and has a lot of natural athletic ability which will help her adapt to the college game.”
“Just as important is that she understands the concept of a tight team, which is what we are proud to have here,” Rule added. “The greatest asset in our program is our players and Natalie is going to fit perfectly within our team-centered approach. She wants to work hard, she thinks about team first, and she is a good person. I can see her making an immediate impact next year and we are excited to have her wearing our colors.”
William Penn is currently ranked #30 in the NAIA and is seeking to earn its first trip to the national tournament in program history.
