Statesmen Pick Up Five Laurels from Heart
Oskaloosa–Four William Penn women’s bowlers and their coach were honored as the all-Heart of America Athletic Conference teams were announced last Sunday.
Caitlin Radliff (So., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering) and Alexis Lake (Sr., Kaysville, Utah, Biology) were both named to the five-member first team, while Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) and Madison Ross (Sr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science) were two of five individuals who garnered second-team recognition.
Radliff and Lake are now both two-time honorees; it is the first time on the first team for both individuals. Evans’ accolade is the fourth of her career, while Ross now has one career laurel.
Head Coach Kirstin Foster was also tabbed as Co-Heart Coach of the Year, sharing the award with Baker’s Cheryl Keslar. It is Foster’s first COY honor.
The group recently led the Statesmen to a runner-up finish at the Heart Championship. In total, William Penn has seven top-five finishes, paced by a title at the Clarke Invitational.
Radliff currently owns a team-high 192.3 pin average in 47 games with a high of 255. She has posted two top-10 finishes and one top-25 performance.
Lake enters postseason play with a 190.1 average (41 games). She has a high game of 255 and has recorded one top-10 finish this season.
Evans is averaging 184.7 pins over a team-best 50 games. The senior recorded a WPU season-best 286 and has two top-10 efforts to her credit.
Through 40 games, Ross owns a 186.9 pin clip. She has a high game of 240 and has one top-10 placing on her resume.
Caitlin Lucas of Baker was named Heart Player of the Year, while Mackenzie Millard of Peru State claimed the league’s Newcomer of the Year laurel.
