YMCA swimmers earn Gold Medals

The Mahaska County YMCA recently sent 16 swimmers to the Regional swim meet at the University of Minnesota to compete against the best from 12 states from the Midwest area. Nikolas Dykstra, Jarod Miller, Carter Huyser and Jack Miller came away with 2 Gold medals while competing in the medley and free relay events for the 13-14 year old division. The relay team swam an Oskaloosa YMCA recording breaking time of 1:54.58 in the 200 Medley Relay while taking over 2 seconds off of their previous best time and an Oskaloosa YMCA record breaking time of 1:39.84 in the 200 Free Relay while taking nearly a second off their previous best time. The other lone medal won at the Regional Swim Meet was by Jarod Miller who earned a 4th place medal in the 400 Individual Medley.
