Mahaska County YMCA

Oskaloosa, Iowa— Summer is just around the corner, and the Mahaska County YMCA has an exciting summer planned for community youth. “Parents may enroll in the Summer Fun Club child care, part-time or full-time, in a fun-filled program designed to address both prevent summer learning loss and address our nature deficit,” said Debbie Cummings, Child Care Director. “Children will kept busy in the outdoors but still have reading and other learning opportunities throughout the day. We will spend time at our Bruce Sedrel Camp at Lake Keomah, Edmundson Park and Pool, and will take exciting field trips every Thursday.” From Survivor Camp with geocaching to Go For the Green with golf lessons donated by Harvest Point Golf Club or Reading Adventure Camp, Andy Watts, Youth Coordinator and his staff will ensure area youth have learning opportunities, fun and nutritious meals in a safe and caring Christian environment all summer. Child Care Assistance is accepted and limited scholarships are available.

The Y is also offering a new Summer Day Camp program for youth who do not need child care but who still would like a camp experience. This camp will be held on Mondays from 8 am – noon. Drop off and pick up is at the YMCA. “We will bus your children to Lake Keomah for fishing, hiking, and camp fun. This program is affordably priced at $8 for YMCA members and $16 for non-members. Limited scholarships are available for this program as well. For more information, contact the Mahaska County YMCA at 641.673.8411 or go online at www.mahaskaYMCA.org.
