YMCA Hosts Healthy Kids Day
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The sounds of laughter and music could be heard coming from the gym at the Mahaska County YMCA this past weekend.
Nick Coffey, with the YMCA, said that the event is typically held later in the spring in order to help get kids moving again as the summer season begins to approach.
Different booths were set up so that participants could explore the many options available to them, ranging from chiropractors and physical therapists to Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
A bounce house, games, and more were in place for the kids free of charge.
The day is part of a larger initiative being promoted by the YMCA nationwide for the month of April.
In past years, many associated the day with the United Way 5K, but the two chose different dates this year because United Way was searching for a warmer day to host their annual event.
