YMCA Annual Campaign Exceeds Goal

Mahaska County YMCA

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County YMCA held its 2nd Annual “No Show Black Tie Dinner” as this year’s scholarship fundraising campaign. As the event came to a close July 20 the Mahaska County YMCA Campaign Committee learned their goal to raise $25,000 had been met and exceeded.

Madonna Bowie, Campaign Chair, said, “Over $32,000 was raised to support scholarships. We are thrilled we exceeded our goal despite holding the campaign during, what are traditionally vacation months, June and July. Some of our pledges came in late due to busy summer schedules, but we are thankful that the community came through for the Y again this year.”

Dawn Collins, Mahaska County YMCA Executive Director, added, “The YMCA awards over $50,000 in membership and program scholarships every year. These scholarships ensure the Y can serve everyone in our community, regardless of ability to pay.”

For more information on this campaign or to join the Y, contact Collins at 641.673.8411. Community members are always welcome to stop by the Mahaska County YMCA, at 414 N Third Street.
