Yang a First-Teamer, Kronmuller Named to HM Squad
Oskaloosa–William Penn women’s linksters Maggie Yang (Fr., Chino, Calif., Diamond Bar HS) and Courtney Kronmuller (Jr., Fountain Valley, Calif., Fullerton CC) were rewarded for record-breaking seasons as the 2011-2012 all-Midwest Collegiate Conference women’s golf teams were announced today.
Yang was named to the five-person first-team squad, while Kronmuller was one of eight players to receive honorable mentions.
Brittany Boon of Ashford was named MCC Player of the Year, while Chris Winkel of Grand View was tabbed as MCC Coach of the Year. Kenzie Rottinghaus of Grand View earned MCC Newcomer of the Year laurels.
Yang made an immediate and permanent impact on the navy and gold, leading William Penn with a school-record 80.8 scoring average. She also broke 18 (75) and 36-hole (151) marks, both done at the Iowa Intercollegiate Championships in March.
The freshman had two wins and placed in the top ten in nine of her ten tournaments (eight top-fives). She managed to shoot in the 70s on seven occasions.
Kronmuller was a great complement to her teammate, posting an 84.5 scoring average. She recorded eight top-ten placings (four top-fives), including a high of fourth at the Lady Statesmen Classic and the Lindenwood Invitational, both in October.
She unfortunately was unable to break into the 70s, but tallied three season-low rounds of 80. The junior’s best two-round score of 162 (81-81) came at September’s Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational.
The pair helped the Lady Statesmen to three tournament titles, their first-ever top-25 ranking, and numerous broken records.
