Oskaloosa–First-year head women’s basketball coach Willie Scott and his new crew will look to turn some heads in the Heart of America Athletic Conference as the league’s Coaches’ Poll was released Wednesday.

The Heart’s 12 coaches picked William Penn (11-19 last year, 4-8 MCC) to finish 11th with 27 points. Defending regular season champion MidAmerica Nazarene is the head of the class with 117 points and seven first-place votes.

Defending tournament winner Benedictine is right on the Pioneers’ heels with 112 points and the remaining five first-place votes. Baker also eclipsed the century mark with 102 points.

Culver-Stockton leads the rest of the crew with 88 points, while Grand View (68), Missouri Valley (65), Central Methodist (62), Evangel (51), Graceland (38), and Peru State (38) are above the Statesmen as well. Avila rounds out the poll with 24 points.

William Penn opens its season next Thursday by hosting Briar Cliff in non-conference action at 5 p.m.
