WPU Picked Fifth in KCAC Preseason Rating
Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s lacrosse team enters Year #3 with heightened expectations as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference released its preseason coaches’ poll last Friday.
William Penn, which was 6-8 last year (5-5 KCAC), is picked fifth in the ranking with 64 points.
Defending regular season and tournament champion Benedictine is projected to once again top the pack, collecting 99 points and nine of the 11 first-place votes.
Missouri Baptist, with 85 points and one first-place nod, is tied with St. Ambrose for second place, while Ottawa is fourth with 74 points and the final first-place ballot.
Midland (54) and Culver-Stockton (45) are sixth and seventh, respectively, while Clarke and Saint Mary (Kan.) are tied for eighth with 29 points. Missouri Valley (24) and Morningside (17) round out the poll.
The Statesmen begin the campaign on February 18, hosting Wartburg in non-conference action at 3 p.m.
