WPU Blanked by Central

Pella–It was a rough night across the board for the Statesmen wrestling team as it fell 42-0 to Central in dual-meet action Thursday.

William Penn (2-3) was unfortunately not able to come away with a victory against the 22nd-ranked team in NCAA Division III.

Austinn Goin (So., Belton, Mo., Exercise Science) had the best showing in a 4-2 loss at 174 pounds, while heavyweight Dane Jones (So., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sociology) also only fell by decision, 5-2.

Kionte Crocker (Jr., Brandon, Fla., Industrial Technology) went the distance as well in a 9-1 major-decision setback at 149 pounds.

Next Up: William Penn will split its lineup Saturday. The varsity will travel to Baldwin City, Kan. to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Duals. WPU will take on Baker at 11 a.m., #19 Missouri Valley at 1 p.m., and Benedictine at 3 p.m. The JV will travel to Dubuque to compete in the Loras Open; action starts at 9 a.m.
