Oskaloosa–Two league crowns helped the Statesmen athletics department to a fourth-place finish as the 2012-2013 Midwest Collegiate Conference’s Commissioner’s Cup Standings were released.

All 17 of the league’s sponsored sports have determined their champions and points have been awarded for finishes in the final regular season standings or finishes in the league’s championship event. Bonus points were also awarded to conference tournament winners.

The MCC sponsors men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s indoor track & field, women’s indoor track & field, men’s bowling, women’s bowling, baseball, softball, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s outdoor track & field, and women’s outdoor track & field.

William Penn earned 660 points to place fourth out of seven teams, highlighted by titles in men’s basketball and baseball. Women’s basketball (2nd), women’s golf (2nd), men’s cross country (3rd), and men’s indoor and outdoor track and field (both 3rd) all ended their campaigns in the top half of the league as well.

Grand View won the Commissioner’s Cup for the fourth consecutive year. The Vikings claimed six championships in 2012-2013, including crowns in men’s soccer, volleyball (shared), women’s basketball, men’s outdoor track & field, men’s golf, and women’s golf.

St. Ambrose was a close second with 790 points and seven outright titles (men’s and women’s cross country, men’s bowling, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, softball, and women’s outdoor track and field).

Mount Mercy claimed the bronze with 725 points (title in women’s bowling), while Viterbo’s strong fall with titles in women’s soccer and volleyball (shared) helped it to 575 points. Clarke (375 points) and AIB (160 points) rounded out the standings.
