Oskaloosa–The Statesmen softball team’s perfection last week helped it take over the league lead and return to the national list as the NAIA released its sixth regular season coaches’ poll Tuesday.

William Penn (27-13, 9-3 MCC) was victorious in all four games last week to jump back into the receiving votes area. The navy and gold, the lone Midwest Collegiate Conference representatives, are 35th with nine points.

Concordia (Calif.) is still #1 with 560 points and 19 first-place votes. Lubbock Christian (Texas) is second with the final first-place vote, while Lee (Tenn.), Williams Baptist (Ark.), and Cal State-San Marcos round out the top five.

William Penn is in Dubuque today against Clarke, then travels to La Crosse, Wis. Wednesday for another MCC doubleheader against Viterbo at 3 p.m.
