Wautrina Wilma Covey, 91, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born Wednesday, April 13, 1921 in Mahaska County the daughter of Leonard Peter and Jennie Vander Voort Valster. On January 2, 1943 she was united in marriage to Leland Covey in Missouri and he died November 19, 1983. Following marriage she stayed home to raise and care for her family. She later worked as a clerk at Yonkers in Des Moines.

Her family includes her step son: Donald (& Oma) Covey of Palm Harbor, Florida; two step daughters: Delores (& Art) Dennis of Fountain Valley, California and Beverly Burison of Tarpon Springs, Florida; two sisters: Esther Dye of Omaha, Nebraska and Margery Lillie of Centennial, Colorado; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sisters: Leona Beyer and Ada Drost.

Graveside services and burial will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. A procession will form at 10:45 AM at the Bates Funeral Chapel to go to the cemetery. No visitation is planned.
