Water Department Reports Hole In South Tower

The Oskaloosa Municipal Water Department has become aware of an issue with our south water tower, located behind the Clow machine shop on South 4th and 8th Avenue East. There is a plug in the bottom of the tank that has started to leak. At this time the leak is approximately 20-30 gallons per minute. We have a crew on its way here to fix this and they should arrive Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
Our customers should not be affected by this incident. The water will continue to remain safe to drink. We will continue to operate off of the north water tower for system pressure. We are working with the Oskaloosa Fire Department and Mahaska County Emergency Management to stay on top of the situation to continue to supply fire protection for Oskaloosa.
