February 27, 2026
Arkansas City, KS – The Indian Hills Baseball squad split an afternoon doubleheader at Cowley College (KS) on Friday, taking the opener from the Tigers 6-3 before falling in the nightcap, 10-2. Indian Hills moves to 7-3 overall on the year.
The game one victory snapped a six-game losing streak to the Tigers that dated back to 2024. The Warriors pounded out nine hits to take the opener before the Tigers stole game two to even the four-game weekend series.
Indian Hills used a quick start on Friday to pull away from Cowley as sophomore Jose Lopez (Las Tablas, Panama/Springfield Commonwealth) delivered a two-run single in the top half of the first inning. Cowley cut into the deficit with a run in the third, but the Warriors plated a run in the fourth before sophomore Kevin Ramos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Springfield Commonwealth) connected on a run-scoring double in the fifth. Brody Geist (Arvada, CO/Standley Lake) extended the lead to 5-1 with an RBI single in the fifth before capping the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Both Lopez and Ramos were joined by sophomore Callum Donnelly (Bulli, Australia/New Mexico JC) with two hits apiece in the win for the Warriors.
Sophomore pitcher Yuan-Kai Chang (Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei Dai) delivered a strong performance on the mound, scattering five hits in six innings of work. Chang struck out eight batters without issuing a walk, the sophomore’s third consecutive start without allowing a walk. In 70.1 career innings for the Warriors, Chang boasts a 7.75 K/BB ratio.
Cowley evened the day in the nightcap thanks to a quick start, building a 6-1 lead through two frames. The Tigers scored a single run in each of the next four innings to pull away for the win.
Freshman Eliott Trudel (Trois-Rivieres, Quebec/Academic Les Estacades) delivered a run-scoring double in the second to highlight the Warriors’ offense in the nightcap while Gage Perri (Andrews, TX/TCS Post Grad) added a double of his own at the plate.
The two sides are back in action Saturday for the series finale. Tomorrow’s doubleheader is set to get underway at 1:00 PM from the Cowley Baseball Facility.
