WARRIORS FALL SHORT AT HOME VS. IOWA LAKES

Ottumwa, IA – A late first half goal proved to be the difference Sunday as the Indian Hills Women’s Soccer team fell at home to visiting Iowa Lakes Community College. The Warriors fall to 8-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

Both sides played scoreless soccer for 39 minutes before the Lakers capitalized on a Warrior turnover in Iowa Lakes’ offensive third. The lone goal lifted Iowa Lakes to 7-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in ICCAC play this season.

Freshman keeper Sara Cogoli (Erbusco, Italy/IIS Luigi Einaudi) stopped three shots in net for the Warriors, including a pair in the second half.

The Warriors had a pair of chances late in the second half in consecutive possessions. Sophomore Dare Kroeten (St. Louis Park, MN/St. Louis Park) rifled a shot that caromed off the crossbar in the 81st minute. Less than a minute later, sophomore Abbie Bailey (Redditch, England/Arrowvale) fired a shot that sailed just over the Iowa Lakes net as the Lakers prevailed down the stretch for the victory.

Sunday’s match was the sixth one-goal contest for the Warriors this year. Indian Hills is 4-2-0 in those games.

Next up for the Warriors is a date with No. 9 nationally ranked Iowa Western Community College. The two sides will square off at 3:30 PM on September 28 in Council Bluffs, IA.
